I appreciate the information regarding copyright and teaching materials.
“The Copyright Act provides that it is not an infringement of copyright to
deal with a work for the purposes of research, private study, criticism,
review, news reporting, education, satire, and parody, provided the
dealing is “fair.” ” (Noel & Snell, Copyright Matters)
I appreciate the clarity on copyright law as a large part of a teacher is providing and setting students up with educational resources. I also understand how big of an issue a teacher asking their students to properly cite their work would be while having the teacher ignore their own curriculum.
As a teacher being aware of the platforms for learning and the resources that may have already been made can redirect time and energy towards student’s needs instead of curriculum creation which I predict will become very important. I appreciate being shown unsplash, as I’m not sure how many tools or resources I might use from the OER, but I will always be looking for photos to use in powerpoints/slides or videos.

The resources and tools on something like: will be as important for the students as for me, as I can show them how to properly source material without stealing or infringing on someone else’s work.

I feel set up for success with the ability to properly cite and give credit to those who’s materials I use and knowing that I am withstanding in the law when I do so.
